Unclaimed Remains, Detroit 2014
Selected Works
8x10 gelatin silver contact prints
The fires here have cooled and the cremation business is no more. The
Holding Vault that contained the bodies of well-known Detroiters waiting for
cremation, gave up its empty spaces to boxes containing unclaimed ashes.
When that space was gone, a gated back room became the storehouse of
forgotten love, an unintended bone museum of human remains with no place
else to go. ‘Ashes to ashes, and dust to dust.’
And still waiting.
